This test checks your levels of Vitamin D. This vitamin is essential for healthy bones and teeth. It is found in some foods but is mainly obtained from sunlight. Up to a quarter of the UK population is low in Vitamin D, particularly towards the end of winter. Low Vitamin D can cause bone and muscle pain, fatigue, depression as well as weak bones.

This is a finger-prick test. You will receive a self-testing kit by first class post which will give you full instructions on how to do everything.
Simply put, you will need about 5-6 drops of blood into one small tube which you then post back to our partner laboratory using our pre-paid envelope.
Your results will be emailed to you via our secure portal within a day of receiving your sample at the laboratory. The whole process is usually complete within 2-3 days – although we do have to depend on royal mail.
All results are reviewed and commented on by our NHS registered GPs but please remember that blood tests alone are never a safe substitute for seeing a doctor directly.
