This test checks the levels of Prolactin hormone. Prolactin has more than 300 functions in the body but is most commonly associated with milk production but it also helps regulate the immune, reproductive and metabolic systems. It helps fluid balance and has effects on behavioural systems.

This is a finger-prick test. You will receive a self-testing kit by first class post which will give you full instructions on how to do everything.
Simply put, you will need about 5-6 drops of blood into one small tube which you then post back to our partner laboratory using our pre-paid envelope.
Your results will be emailed to you via our secure portal within a day of receiving your sample at the laboratory. The whole process is usually complete within 2-3 days – although we do have to depend on royal mail.
All results are reviewed and commented on by our NHS registered GPs but please remember that blood tests alone are never a safe substitute for seeing a doctor directly.
